The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Cincinnati invites interested Greater Cincinnati volunteers to join in our ministry of service to those suffering financial, emotional & spiritual hardships.

Our volunteers are regular people, men and women of all ages, from all walks of life. Whether spending a couple of hours to help collect food or other basic necessities for those in need or making a home visit to provide food, clothing or furniture to a struggling family, St. Vincent de Paul volunteers work together to change lives in our community.

St. Vincent de Paul welcomes your volunteer time and expertise. For more detailed information, download our Volunteer Opportunities brochure online here.

Volunteers Needed

  1. Help Pantry Team identify donated foods that may meet the special dietary needs of people with various medical conditions. A volunteer in this capacity should have formal training as a dietitian. Immediate but may be short term, just to establish a system.
  2. Work as part of the Pantry Team, stocking food, transporting donated items, welcoming and escorting patrons as they move through the pantry making their choices of food items. Immediate & ongoing.
  3. Work as part of the Pantry Team by welcoming and registering patrons at the reception desk, advising them of pantry regulations, completing and maintaining required forms and helping to maintain the flow of patrons receiving service. Immediate & ongoing.
  4. Add some artistic touches to the Choice Pantry (artistic ability essential - not negotiable) Immediate but may be time limited.
  5. As a member of a two person team, visit people in the community who are in need of furniture. These visits are made every Wednesday morning between 8:45 and 11:30. Immediate & ongoing.
  6. Assist the social service department in responding to phone requests for service. This can be done during any of our standard office hours for whatever time a volunteer have available. Training and staff support will be provided. Immediate & ongoing.
  7. Using the "Benefit Bank" system as an indicator, interview clients and enter appropriate data to help determine eligibility for mainstream benefits and facilitate the application process. This work requires participating in a one day training session. Ongoing staff support and technical assistance will be provided. The work would be done at our Bank Street or Winton Hills sites during standard work days. Immediate & ongoing.
  8. Assist with registering people for the "Angel Food" program. Volunteer would also help with taking and filling orders. This work would be done at the Winton Hills site and would require up to two part days of work a month. Immediate & ongoing.
  9. Transport "Angel Food" commodities from the regional distribution point in North Fairmount to our Winton Hills program site one Saturday a month. To do this work the volunteer would need to have access to a van. Immediate & ongoing.
  10. Help entering and cleaning data for the Social Services Department. This would be a good job for a person who is analytically inclined and who enjoys computer work. This work could be done at the convenience of the volunteer during most standard operating hours. Immediate & ongoing.
  11. Help provide childcare during program meetings/activities as our Winton Hills site. This help would be needed on the third Thursday of every month from 1:30 to 3 PM. This position is only tentative at this time.
