For 18 years, Amie and her husband worked hard to care for their two children and a niece and nephew.
Then Amie’s husband was diagnosed with cancer and Amie quit her job as a nurse to be with her husband in his last weeks. After he passed away, Amie struggled with returning to work as a caregiver for people suffering in similar circumstances as her husband.
When her company merged with another healthcare facility, Amie lost her job. An emergency fund got her through a few months of unemployment, but she soon found herself struggling financially.
Unable to pay her utilities, Amie turned to St. Vincent de Paul, where she received help--and hope. “I’m thankful that God will get me through,” said Amie. “Everyone falls; I’m just getting back up.”
