Holiday Giving 2024
As the holidays approach, we are reminded that the true spirit of the season lies in our ability to lift each other up. Over the past year, St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati has witnessed a sharp rise in neighbors turning to us for help. In these challenging times, the strength of our community and the power of your generosity make all the difference as “neighbors helping neighbors” comes to life.
The struggle to afford a place to live and keep essential utilities running has become a reality for more of our neighbors. As the regional leader in homelessness prevention, this past year we provided over $5 million in rent and utility assistance to keep families in their homes. In one week alone, we received $343,975 in urgent requests for housing assistance, showing the ongoing crisis in our community.
Each year, our network of 14 food pantries provides nourishment to nearly 100,000 individuals in our region. Our Catino Choice Food Pantry alone served a record-breaking 73,000 individuals across 25,000 households this past year. Neighbors who face hardship and turn to this pantry are given the opportunity to shop with dignity for items just as they would in a grocery store, all at zero cost. Notably, when neighbors visit a SVDP pantry, they have access to our wraparound services and can fulfill other immediate and long-term needs.
At our three SVDP Charitable Pharmacies, 94,752 prescriptions have been filled this year—a 18% increase from the year before. This year, we expanded to serve eight counties, with the opening of a new pharmacy in Milford, Ohio. For many of our neighbors, access to life-saving medications is critical for their overall well-being, improving health outcomes and giving them hope for the future.
Together, we are preventing homelessness, fighting hunger, and delivering essential healthcare. Your donation—no matter the size—directly impacts the lives of those who need it most. As we celebrate the season of giving, let’s remember that our collective compassion can transform lives in our community.
