Our neighbor got behind on his Duke bill because he was out of work because of heart surgery in May. His solution was to start receiving Social Security retirement benefits of about $1800 per month. He is 66 years old and was a union drywall worker.
He owes Duke $1481.69, with a 12/16 shut off notice. The plan was for our conference to pay $175 under the Winter Rule, with the idea he would get Social Security benefits and could manage a payment plan. Now Social Security has informed him, that because of a backlog, they might not get to his case until March. The plan is now to pay the whole amount. He said he is getting some help from his son and from his church, New Prospect Baptist for ongoing expenses. Health issues limit the kind of work he can do.
Cathedral/St. X conference will commit to $500. We are looking for help with the remaining $981.
      Checks can be mailed to Cathedral/St. X Conference, 325 W. 8th, Cincinnati, OH 45202
